In 1994 the Insane Clown Posse, an American hardcore hip hop duo band,
penned the term Juggalo in reference to their fan base crowd during a live
performance of their popular song, Juggla. The duo addressed the
audience as Juggalos and the term permanently stuck among the army of
fans.
Juggalos seek to belong – Much like being apart of a gang. The comaraderie is strong and the free spirited mindset during the yearly events, known as “The Gathering” adds to the mostly frowned upon culture. The common characteristics of a Juggalo are wearing face paint of a demonic clown or corpse paint, wearing branded Hatchetman gear and jewelry, and spider leg hair styles. They have their own gang like hand gesture/symbol to identify themselves and a vocal calling – Whoop, whoop.
